Super Foods are Critical for Pregnant Women

We all know that lifestyle & diet during pregnancy have a significant impact on a child's health. New Research shows that its crucial to be eating healthy foods before conception, during pregnancy and into life.

Dr. Steven Pratt, a clinical assistant professor of ophthalmology at the University of California, San Diego says, "If you're missing just one nutrient at a crucial time of development, that can be a problem.

For example, sperm motility depends directly on antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids, amino acids, found in wild Alaska salmon. The baby's brain is developing in leaps and bounds before he or she is born and well in to the childhood, teen & early adult years. Women need food like blueberries & wild cold water fish. They have a lot of omega-3 fatty acids in their breast milk and those children have a higher IQ even at age seven, than those who don't. They have faster development of the brain, heart & the eyesight, even IQ at age 18 is better."

Mothers who have a diet high in sugary foods & simple carbohydrates have high insulin in their blood, which affects the baby's weight.

Dr. Pratt said that super foods will help you lower your risk of complications during pregnancy and your child's risk of chronic illness later in life.

Dr Pratt explains, "Women who are overweight during pregnancy, and parents that are overweight, have overweight kids and those kids are doomed to a lifetime of weight control problems. As you're losing weight, you're mobilizing toxins in your fat, so you want to get that mobilized and out of your body prior to conception, rather during pregnancy or during breast feeding times."

And he said the 25 super foods will not only help your child, but mom's life & longevity well into her senior years.

In his SuperFoodsRx for Pregnancy book, Dr. Pratt suggests switching coffee for green tea because it is loaded with anti-oxidants, fights cancer and has less caffeine.
