Probiotics Shown To Boost Immune System
Recent studies have shown that probiotics are beneficial in the prevention of certain viruses and cold like symptoms. The results showed that when probiotics are used they can also reduce the severity of contracted viruses and can help to boost the immune system.

A double-blind study carried out in 2001 focused on children in day care centres in Finland. It showed that cons>umption of probiotic milk containing Lactobacillus rhamnosus resulted in fewer cases of respiratory tract infections.
Another double-blind study in Sweden in 2005 examined taking the probiotic, Lactobacillus reuteri, in preventing colds and diarrhea in adults in the work place. The results showed that individuals taking the probiotics took 60% fewer sick days involving the symptoms of colds and diarrhea.
And a third study, carried out in 2006, examined the effect on the immune system when probiotics were removed from the diet of healthy adults. The results showed that the immune systems ability to fight off illness and infection was lowered. When probiotic bacterias were introduced into the diet again it reversed these effects.
James Betz, founder and CEO of Biotivia, a world leading bioceutical firm, said: "The results from these studies are very encouraging and highlight the research that we have been collaborating on for the last few years into the benefits of probiotics and prebiotics. We knew that probiotics helped to stave off the effects of illness but we have been looking at ways of introducing prebiotics and probiotics into a formula where they don't neutralize each other and can give real benefits to the immune system. We have finally done this with Florativia, the worlds first ever probiotic and prebiotic combination.
This new and much more effective way of delivering probiotics is called synbiotics and marks a dramatic improvement in replenishment of friendly gut bacteria and the numerous health benefits this brings. Our Florativia is the first synbiotic supplement to be sold in the US."
A strong immune system can help to maintain heath and reduce occurrence of illness. Several strains of lactobacilli and bifidobacteria, available in dietary supplements, have been shown to strengthen the immune system.
Betz continues: "With our new synbiotic formula we have created a truly effective health supplement that can help to prevent the suffering associated with irritable bowel syndrome, poor digestive system, depleted gut bacteria from taking antibiotics and those with urinary tract problems. It has also been shown to boost the immune system and to create a healthy gut environment."
